Called 6 different operators at the USCIS and got different answers (atleast they are consistently inconsistent!)
2 Said it is perfectly fine as long as the amount is correct
3 said they prefer seperate checks but if the amount is correct they will accept it
1 said they will reject the whole package.
On a lighter note i spoke to one really sweet lady when my call was escalated. All i wanted to ask was about the checks, but she (very enthusiastically) looked up my information and informed me that i was not in the system yet and actually apologised to me. Now i KNOW she looked it up coz she got my middle and company names right even without my telling her that. She even said she has received a few calls today and the guy b4 me was a lucky caller as he was in the system as of Aug 8.

My wife finally got her EAD card.. Hooray!
But: It has MY photo on it instead of hers!! All other information on the card is correct.
I called USCIS and the received wisdom is that I need to send in another I-765 (with no fees as it is obviously their mistake) and include the current EAD card.
Is this the only option? We cannot wait for another 3-6 months while the application is lost in the pile (again).. I asked the USCIS representative if the local office can help, but she wasn't sure either way..
I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if taking an Info Pass appointment helped in getting a corrected card faster.

My I-140 got approved in EB2 category in USA. My spouse who is on H4, born in U.A.E (Dubai) holds an Indian passport.

why EAD renewal can take up to 3 months? (90 days). It just does not make sense. I can understand if it is fresh application OR it has been expired for quite sometime before applying for renewal. If it is fresh app, there might be some security checks, application verificaiton checks etc. But EAD Renewal is very simple. You were approved once, your application does not boast any address changes. All you are requesting is renewal based on pending I-485. No common sense!:eek:

It intrigues me that there are not many members here in a similar situation i.e consultants moving to new city/state while continuing GC process. Or may be the response is not much as this part of the forum is not accessed much by many members.

Since getting an appointment at the US Consulate requires a prior payment of visa fees at a Consulate designated bank, I would apprecitae if you would let me know how this process works: I.e: (1) How to pay the visa application fee and the visa issuance fee at that bank; and (2) how to book an appointment at the Consulate at Kolkata. There may be members posting their thoughts and suggestions on multiple websites. Right now immigrationvoice.org is separate org and has a different approach to others that I know. This org is going to raise funds and hire professional strategist who knows how to cross a minefield and get our priorites introduced in one or other vehicle of legislation.
Everyone here on this org is:
1. Affected by retrogression.
2. Already tried individual efforts to educate/convince congress to eliminate employment based retrogression and raise GC quote for EB2, EB3.
3. Realized after defeat of provisions in S 1932 in the house that we need professional help and need to spend money, time and efforts to get it done.
While individual efforts are not bad, lobbying certainly makes a lot of difference when it comes to get our priorities stay in legislation during intense debate over immigration in general.
Please keep you valuable contributions coming in terms of your time, forum replies and money. We have raised $5000 dollars in 2 days and our goal is $100,000 for professional lobbying help and we need to raise that much in next few weeks.

Once you strart using EAD your H1 will be terminated. If you want to switch to H1 again your need to apply for fresh H1 in the new quota. You cant renew because its terminated.

You can reapply for H1-B but you are NOT subject to H1-B cap / quota.
It should not be subject to the annual cap unless you have been out of the U.S. for at least one year since you were last in H-1B status.

My wife is on h4 visa and we have found a volunteering position for a profit company.
Is it legal for people on h4 visa to volunteer (meaning not getting paid any type of salary) for a profit making company.
You may ask why we are doing this, if we dont make money, we are doing this to gain experience here.
So that once we get our EAD we can use it to work.
Does any one have any information about this. Because it is not a non-profit company it is a profit making company.
The field is not IT , it is drug and pharmaceutical related and is mainly bio-tech.
